11 kV Distribution System

The subject project was a Design-Build type package awarded to Emta Inc. / Turkey. Altan Ltd. Co. was responsible from the Site Investigations, Topographical Survey and generation of the complete design package including the drawings, specifications and reports in Civil, Architectural, Structural, Mechanical and Electrical disciplines.

The aim of the project was to design the requirements for a new 11 kV Electrical Distribution System at Al Asad Air Base in Iraq and upon the approval of the design, procure and install the materials and equipment in accordance with all applicable Specifications.

The project covered the renovation of an existing 33/11 kV substation with new “T” walls, construction of a new 11 kV substation with new “T” walls, installation of new 11kV distribution radials, repair of existing 11kV distribution feeders and construction of 10 new 11kV/400V substations ranging from 500kVA to 2000 kVA.

“The scope of the project covered separate work items which are as follows:
Item 1: Installation of three additional circuits for Main Distribution Substation on each side of the split bus, total, with switchgear and feeder breakers.

Item 2 : Installation of three additional circuits for Airfield Distribution Substation on each side of the split bus, six total, including switchgear and feeder breakers.

Items 3-9: Installation of new 11 kV distribution radial (Radial 5) and corresponding substation ranging in size from 1000 kVA to 2000 kVA.

Item 10 : Installation of new 11 kV distribution radial (Radial 8) with corresponding 2000 kVA substation.

Items 11 – 14 : Installation of new 11 kV distribution radial (Radial 10) and corresponding substation ranging in size from 500 kVA to 1000 kVA. “
