Runway With Shelters, Transient and Medium Aircraft Aprons

PROJECT DESCRIPTION

The subject project was a Design-Build type package and Altan Ltd. Co was responsible from the design part. The project covered the design and construction of a 1,585 meters of runway with two each shelters for Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) storage and admin space, the design services and construction consisting of a concrete runway, with graded crushed aggregate base course, drainage, concrete shoulders with graded crushed aggregate base course, unpaved shoulders, markers, striping, temporary runway lighting, support facilities and utilities.

As well as the runway and the shelters the project covered the design and construction of new concrete Transient Aircraft Aprons and Medium Aircraft Aprons. The transient aircraft aprons were utilized for the landing and take off acvtivities of C-130 transient aircrafts. The works consisted of demolition and removal of existing site structures and asphalt pavement, relocation of existing utilities, construction of concrete aprons and concrete shoulders drainage, markers, striping and jet blast protection, grounding points, apron edge lighting and 10.000 gallon water storage tank for fire suppression.

The works related with the Medium Aircraft Apron covered the demolition of an existing building and asphalt paved surfaces and the construction of a concrete apron pavement and shoulders with graded crushed aggregate base course, drainage, taxiway access, markers, striping and blast protection. The work included grounding points, apron edge lighting, a 10.000 gallon water storage tank for fire suppression and an access road to it as well as utilities.
