Temporary Compound Housing Phase I

The aim of the project was to provide design and construction services for 260 each temporary housing and supporting utilities for the existing U.S Embassy compound in Islamabad. The outlines of the major works in various disciplines are as follows:

Civil: The civil works covered the excavation / filling works, construction of foundations of Temporary Housing Units, elevated walkways, Meeting / Recreation Fac. and supporting facilities, installation of sanitary sewer, storm drainage, water distribution lines, construction of manholes, handholes, catchbasins, access stairs, service ramp, domestic and fire water storage tanks, pump rooms, installation of package type sewage treatment plant, construction of equipment pads, storm drainage and treated water discharge structures and construction of graded crushed aggregate access roads and service yards.

Architectural: Architectural works covered the installation / construction of 260 ea Pre-Fabricated Temporary Housing Units, a Meeting and Recreation Facility, 2 ea. Laundries, miscellaneous Service Facilities, Electrical Room as well as the installation of elevated walkways, first floor access stairs and furnitures of the Housing Units and the Recreation Facility.

Structural: Structural works covered the construction of the steel structure of the elevated walkways, its roofing system and steel frame of the Meeting – Recreation Facility.

Mechanical: Installation of heat pump units of the Temporary Housing Units, A/C system of the Recreation Facility, fire pumps, wet and dry pipe type sprinkler systems, domestic hot and cold water systems including tankless water heaters, waste water lines of the whole facilities and generator fuel supply system were covered by the mechanical discipline of the project.

Electrical: Electrical works covered the installation of a Prime Power Plant, construction and installation of power distribution system, interior and exterior electrical works including lighting, power, fire alarm and communication including Voice, Data and TV systems.
